Eldrick Oktober graduated from the Sustainability Institute’s Youth-in-transition programme in 2021. He interned for the Living Soils Community Learning Farm where he gained a lot of knowledge about growing food. Through this opportunity, he was able to grow his skills and gain professional experience in the industry.
He is now working at Vlottenburg Primary School growing vegetables to supplement the school feeding scheme. He is happy and doing very well. He plans on staying in the food growing space, and is enjoying working at the Primary School, a space where he is respected and supported.
Eldrick reflects on his journey and shares: “I want to teach children and my community how to grow food, and hope to one day be a farm manager.”
